Anime I'm Watching During Spring 2019

Having tried enough series for now, I've settled on these series being the ones I watch during the Spring 2019 season. Assuming of course none of them suddenly decide to become completely unwatchable. Not going to rank these. It should be obvious which is the favorite of the season by the end.

Cinderella Girls Climax (TV43/WEB35)

Sure like with previous seasons there will be segments wasted on "I like Producer" stuff, but aside from that the series still continues to be fun for the most part. Plus I will admit it can be fun to see what girls get to be the next focus of the next episode. And yes, since some of the ladies are rather attractive, that helps too. It's not my fault some of them have nice mountains. Yes, even this type of art can have fanservice.
Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine (3)

While I enjoyed the first episode, I can't deny having some worry.  Mostly because there was the question of how the show would be paced. Never mind how many members they need to JOIN them on their quest. However, I now feel confident enough in the series. If nothing else, I have several girls to be attached to. Akane is still the best of them. However Aoi and Yoshime are both good too.
Senryuu Shoujo (3)

I love the way the poems are voiced. I love Nanako's expressions. The series is for the most part charming. The main negative is related to the HET aspects. I'm not against a series being het and it's a thing even in the manga. But for some reason it feels like the anime doubles down on the het. Maybe it's because of the difference between formats? Despite that issue, I still enjoy watching the anime.  In part because of what I read of the manga and because again Nanako. Seeing her animated and voices is a dream come true. Plus some of the side characters are amusing.
Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki (3)

Let's not kid ourselves here. The main reason I'm going to keep watching this is because Yatogame has me charmed by her voice and her cat antics. Which is sad because one issue with this show is this. For a series about trying to promote a location, it feels  more like they're promoting the idea of having a fetish towards someone due to her accent and mannerisms. And if you take the idea further, I can't deny it's bad. Which I should complain about.

Yet here I am watching the anime because her voice charms me, her cat like appearance is hypnotic. That hair. Long story short, I'm literally part of the problem. Still I need at least one "bad" show to watch this season and this seems to be the best choice among the ones I've tried. Not only is it just 3 minutes, I also get my fill of her.
Kiratto Pri-chan (3/54)

There's no denying I'll miss some aspects of the previous season, but the new season of Prichan is off to good start. If nothing else I especially love the idea of finally having someone to ship Mirai with. Seriously she deserves to have a love interest. Please marry her! Ok, I'll stop shipping. The point is this series is good, watch it. Of course it will be even better if certain aspects from season 1 end up being a thing in season 2. (Yes, I want them back, there I said it)
Aikatsu Friends  (3/53)

One could say that the new season of Aikatsu Friends has really turned up the heat. Not sure what to think of the whole Jewel part, but to be fair it's clear the season is less about the  jewels and more about Hibiki and Alicia's relationship. One I'm interested in and cautious about. I guess I'm mainly worried about pacing. However the first few episodes have given me hope in that regard. Plus it's more Aikatsu, so I'm going to keep watching this one.
Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu

Yes it does suffer a bit from repeating jokes. However I can forgive it in a series like this because believe it or not for some shows, the repeating of jokes serves a narrative purpose. Ok maybe it doesn't and my bias is allowing me to be more forgiving  than I should be.

Still what matters most has been how wonderful the relationships are. Between just Aru, Nako, and Bocchi we've gotten some great moments. And there's promise of more to come.  I rather enjoy what I've read of the manga and this has essentially become my favorite anime of the season. At least among the new series.
Star Twinkle Precure (11)
We'll end this entry with a reminder that I'm still watching this series. It's Precure, what do you expect. I don't really have much to add though. Other than I like how our girls are coming together. I guess the main issue right now has to do with history repeating itself and the formula of Precure. I'm not complaining about Precure having one, it has more to do with being conditioned.

Ie I'm conditioned to expect/hope for big moments to happen in the plot arounds the 20s or the 30s. So when a precure series series reaches double digits, I start anticipating and hoping the current season's version of the moments I come to expect end up being well good.  For now I probably should just enjoy the ride.

The Dropped Of Spring 2019 Anime

For this entry I will focus on the series from Spring I've decided to drop for now.  Each of these have problems that make them not worth keeping up with on a week to week basis. If they're ever given another chance it will be near the end of the season.

Joshikausei (3)

Series like this are frustrating. Sure on occasion you might get an episode that involves perhaps seconds of the girls bonding. However based on what I've read of the manga and seen of the anime so far, you're way more likely to get episodes that in various ways just waste your time. The manga does have the advantage that you can just skim through it and rush to the "better" chapters. However think of it like hoping for a 5 Star character, but most of the time you just get a 3 star that you don't care about. Seriously if I watch any more of this series I'll feel like I'm gambling.
Isekai Quartet (3)
I'm going to be blunt here, the school setting hurts this show. Note for the record, I don't auto-hate school settings, but in this case it does more harm than good. Also I know I shouldn't take things seriously, but episode 3 left a bad taste in my mouth for some reason. Plus the honest truth is my interest in the casts being featured in this series collectively is very limited.  So there's not much appeal on that end. It's not exactly a terrible show, but I'd rather just part ways with it now.

Strike Witches 501 butai Hasshin Shimasu! (3)

Sure there are funny moments in the first three episodes. However I've already had my fill of the main joke of the series. Witches suffering because of other Witches. Plus the bad art and animation screams just wait for the BD version. Assuming you're even going to watch (more of) it at all.
Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai (3)
The idea of a series where characters want to get better at things they're not good at despite being told "Give up on stuff you suck at, only do things you're good at"  is interesting sure. It also has some attractive girls in it. However I'm just not in the mood for it right now.  It also doesn't help that even for a harem series some of the romance feels a bit too automatic. Yes, I know that's the point, but they could you know try bit harder to trick us into thinking it's not.

Finally  like with that Quints show from last season, if I am to watch more of this I'd rather do so after it's finished  airing. For some reason I'm starting to find shows like this work better that way. So dropped for now with potential to revisit later maybe.

Winter 2018 Anime Final Thoughts Part 3

Now for the final set of shows that I finished during the Winter Season including yet another example of a show I started last minute. Let's start with of course....

W'z

Seeing how things were for the previous cast was interesting sometimes. Watching Haruka and Yuki drag their feet for several episodes was annoying. That said they eventually got better. The final arc wasn't too bad.  As a follow up to Hand Shakers this series actually pretty decent. Of course, I speak as one of the few that finished Hand Shakers and didn't hate everything about it.

Kemono Friends 2

I'm sorry, but curiosity overcame me and I wanted to judge the series based on its own merit and not drama. By itself the series would be fine. When compared to the previous series this feels like it's missing something. Basically it's a shell of its former self.  Not much to say beyond that other than saying similar phrases.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

This was over all an enjoyable series with the occasional issue. Also I can't fault a show for having two lovely Demon Lords as part of its cast. Not much else to say other than I have plans to watch S2. Just pretend I spent 12,000 words praising the Fairy.

Bermuda Triangle! Colorful Pastrale

For the most part I enjoyed the series. I loved seeing Canon get used to her new way of life. However they really dropped the orb with the final two episodes. Especially during episode 12. My opinion on the show is still positive, but taking how it ended into account, it has to be lowered a bit. Still if there is ever a season 2 focused on them as an idol group, I'd end up watching it. Just please have a better ending arc next time.

Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai

This was a pretty good series over all even if sometimes it felt like there was nothing for me to say. What first won me over was Kylie and her dedication to pancakes, but once Chika came on to the scene, the show became great. Kylie and Chika are one of my favorite "ships" of the season. The interactions between them was enough to make the series good. On top of that you had other fun characters, some rather nice  aerial combat scenes, etc.

Kiratto Pri-chan

There might have been a few episodes that were lacking, but as a whole this was a very enjoyable experience. The main three girls and the secondary trio are all fun in their own ways. Only major negative is that while I will likely enjoy the sequel series there will be aspects of this series I will miss, but that's just how it is.

Endro!
Perhaps my favorite series of the season. That's not to say it never had any issues, it did. However I was invested in Mao's character.  She won me over the moment she appeared on screen. She has quite a few fun scenes during the series and it was amusing seeing her interact to others. On top of being a fun character, she's one you can also feel for.  Remove from the show and it would still enjoyable, but it wouldn't be as high on my list without her.

----------------------------

This marks the end of the Winter Season for me. Yes, there's the current Precure, but that's only getting started and this is about shows that ended in Winter not shows still going into Spring and maybe even beyond. Speaking of Spring, here's hoping for a few good series, but not too many.  I can only juggle so many shows.
